Let me walk you through some basic knowledge about electrical installation projects.

What are the key considerations in electrical installation foundation works?

With the continuous development of the national economy, the construction industry is also thriving, with electrical installation foundation works receiving widespread attention. Proper installation not only affects the overall performance and serviceability of the project but also effectively reduces the likelihood of failures in mechanical and electrical equipment.

  1. Construction Regulations for Electrical Works in Foundation Engineering

  1) Upon entering the distribution panel, a residual-current circuit breaker shall be installed as the main switch, with a tripping current of 30 mA and built-in overload and overvoltage protection. The circuits shall be sequentially numbered 3 to 4 from bottom to top, respectively controlling the lighting, air-conditioning, and socket circuits.

  2) Lighting fixtures shall be equipped with individual switches; grouped lighting fixtures shall be controllable by group; and two-way toggle switches shall be installed as required.

  3) For household electrical appliances that use a single-phase socket as the power supply connector, the maximum connected power shall be 0.25 kW for inductive loads (such as electric motors) and 1.0 kW for resistive loads (such as electric heaters). This limitation does not apply if the socket is not used as a switching device for the load.

  4) Power-consuming equipment with high power requirements in the foundation works (such as air conditioners, electric water heaters, electric heaters, etc.) shall be wired separately, and ISA single-phase outlets shall be selected.

  5) During wiring, the phase and neutral wires shall be of different colors; within the same residence, the phase wire (L) shall be uniformly colored, the neutral wire (N) shall be blue, and the protective earth (PE) conductor shall be a yellow-green bicolored wire.

  6) The installation of electrical conduits, wiring works, and electrical and lighting fixtures shall, in addition to complying with these provisions, also conform to the relevant current national standards.

  7) The foundation contractor shall provide the owner with as-built electrical drawings upon completion of the project.

  2. Quality Requirements for Main Materials in Foundation Works

  1) The specifications and models of electrical products and materials shall comply with the design requirements and the relevant provisions of the current national standards for electrical products.

  2) The electrical equipment and materials for the foundation works shall be packaged intact, with no damage to the appearance of the materials and with all accessories and spare parts included.

  3) Electrical appliances, apparatus, and materials with a rated voltage of AC 1 kV or less and DC 1.5 kV or less shall be classified as low-voltage equipment; when the rated voltage exceeds AC 1 kV or DC 1.5 kV, high-voltage electrical equipment, apparatus, and materials shall be used.

  4) Instruments on electrical equipment for foundation works, as well as instruments related to electrical protection, shall have been verified and be within their validity period when they are put into trial operation.
